The past few months, we’ve been hosting monthly potlucks at Fork & Spoon HQ (which is ultimately the house where Chris and I live. Jordan lives in another house.) This month, in celebration of fall, food, and friendship, and with a desire to make the potlucks more welcoming to folks we’re not yet friends with, we decided to hold it at a local venue and have a bunch of our good friends and favorite Columbia bands play. This week, in preparation, we thought it would be fun to post a song a day of the bands playing at the potluck so that we can all start getting excited.
Today, we’ve got a song by …for science!. Although they are only a three-piece, they produce a wall of sound that dwarfs most other bands. Heavy, brooding, yet patient, this live recording exemplifies the bands ability to take you through time as you lose yourself in the distorted repetition and suddenly realize it’s been nine minutes. They don’t play often, so this is a real treat. (It’s also fun to see Washed Out’s live drummer play metal.)
